Since 1989, Hi-Fi Murals has accumulated a collection of hundreds of murals in a variety iof diverse styles including photo-realism, surrealism, sign painting, cartoon, anime and graffiti. There is no limit to what image or with what finish murals can be created or reproduced. Everything from large scale exterior walls to interior walls, such as a theme room for a child, canvases, motorcycles and helmets, race cars, show cars; whatever you want painted is possible.

Cost is calculated by the square foot, with a variable rate based on the technical difficulty, materials used and location (high visiblity wall, grafitti-proof coating, surface condition). Alternately, a flat daily rate can be used, at $500/ day per person.

Cost is also affected by the design process. While Hi-Fi Murals provides a complete design service, the more thought you have given your project, the less time, and money, is spent on design. The first design is free and additional designs, or significant alterations, cost $90 per hour, so it is important to know exactly what you are looking for. If we have created a design for you and you do not go ahead with the project Hi-Fi Murals will keep the negotiable retainer fee (usually around $1000)

Although Hi-Fi Murals will provide a rough quote over the phone, we cannot guarantee a quote without seeing the wall, in order to get a more accurate idea of the scope of the project. Quotes are provided free, so you have nothing to lose by calling or e-mailing.

Most murals are painted with a combination of latex and spray paints, acrylics as well as automotive paints are popular. Hi-Fi Murals has experience in applying all coatings, and a Journeyman painter with years of experience can provide you with advice on which material is best to use for a given project.

For exterior walls, a graffiti proof coating can also be applied after the mural is finished

We will warrantee our work if requested. This is why we use the best surface preparation techniques. Murals are warranteed for 5 years although you can expect some fading within this time on south facing walls.

Weather can affect your project deadline. Be sure to take this into account when planning a mural project. This is why it is important to give us as much warning as possible, since this is an important factor when fitting your project into a busy schedule.

We will try and accomodate you however we can. Contact us by phone or e-mail if you have any questions.

AUDREY - approx. 45' x 14' - Located on First Avenue
at Nanaimo Street, Van., BC - painted Oct. 2005
This mural was sponsored by the City of Vancouver as a
deterrent to graffiti.and as a means of helping to beautify the neighborhood. The subject of this mural is Audrey, my daughter, and the background is in the Vancouver Art Gallery. I was trying to capture a dreamlike setting while keeping the image simple in order not to distract the passing motorists.

rocket
ROCKETBOY - approx. 60' x 12' - Located on a rooftop on Clarke Drive between 2nd and 3rd Avenue.
This is another project sponsored by the City of Vancouver and it is in celebration of the birth of my son Nikola (Niko).
The entire mural is in somewhat of a collage style and entirely themed in little boy blue depicting whatever little boys may dream.

Rainforest Cafe - 10' x 12' - Eatons Centre Mall, Burnaby, BC. Airbrushed acrylics. Painted Sept. 1998.
This wall was painted for the Rainforest Cafe as a sampler wall showing what was to come as the restaurant was under construction. Neither the mural nor the restaurant are still standing.

ugg
UGG - 60' x20' - Located at the north end of Clarke Drive, Van.,BC. Latex paint with rollers. Painted 1995
This is the largest (60 feet wide) of three signs painted at this grain elevator as I worked alongside a signwriter. This particular sign took two swingstage drops in order to complete. It's a big one. You can still see it today.

miracle
This mural or ghost sign is 75' x 25' and is located in Rossland, BC. Brush, roller and latex paint. Painted Feb 2003
This was painted for a feature
film called Miracle starring Kurt Russell and the town played as Lake Placid during the 1980 Olympics when the US Olympic hockey team beat USSR for the gold medal. The movie is actually quite entertaining while the hockey scenes are poorly shot in my opinion. The paint was freezing in our cups as it got dark! The mural still stands today.

ANNIVERSARY - 30' x 10' - located at a park on Victoria Drive at East 27th,Vancouver, BC.
Painted June 2003. Spray paint on cinder blocks.
This mural was a gift to my wife Anamaria for our second
anniversary. It was a graffiti cover up on a tennis court wall not far from my house. This mural no longer stands

cafe dux 2
CAFE DEUX SOLIELS 2 - 40' X 6' - Located at Commercial Drive at 3rd, Van.,BC. Spray Paint on stucco. Painted summer 2005.
This is the second incarnation for this wall mural. This popular restaurant wanted something a little more kid friendly this time around. You can still see this mural hanging around.

train
traintracks
Train Mural - 32' x 10' - now located in the Grandview cut immediately east of the new VCC Skytrain Station, Van.,BC. Airbrushed latex paints on plywood. Painted Oct. 2006.
This is a multi sponsored project between BNSF Railway, Skytrain and the City of Vancouver. With additional involvement with GVTAPS, BCRTC and the Collingwood Community Policing Station. There were plans of additional panels being commissioned in a train theme but I'm pretty sure that idea has been shuffled to the bottom of the pile.

cafe dux
CAFE DEUX SOLIELS - 40' x 6' - Located on Commercial Drive at 3rd Ave. Van.,BC. Spray paint on stucco. Painted winter 2003.
Here is the original, it is a design I came up withand they thought it was cool enough I should go with it. I was painting alot of wasps back then. I just remember my hands were freezing while I was painting this. Officially, this piece was never finished so I never did sign it.
pooh
Pooh Room 2 - additional view.
I'll be sure to post more photos of this room with its digital projector and surround sound system.
pooh
Pooh Room 1 - 12' x 9' - Private residence. Acrylics and latex on drywall. Painted Feb.2006.
Kids rooms! These are so fun. Obviously a Winnie the Pooh theme. This project grew from being two walls to all four walls plus ceiling. Alot more work than anticipated, although the results are great. I'm sure baby Anna is enjoying her room!
firehall
Firehall No. 2 - 25' x 25' - Located at Main Street and Powell. Airbrushed latex paints on cinder block. Painted summer 2005.
This mural represents a short history of Vancouver fire trucks. From earlier horse drawn wagons in the background to the modern day "Quint" up front. In the deeper background is downtown Vancouver with the North Shore mountains.
British Classic
British Classic Motors - 20' x 9' - Latex and spray paint on cinder block. Painted Feb. 2006.
This piece does its job quite simply, as a British auto repair shop, there is no way you can miss this shop located at W. 4th Ave. just east of Cambie Street in Vancouver.
mp 1 Moving Products
Here we have a modern high gloss concrete floor finish at a commercial establishment. In these photos it is difficult to see much except they do capture the depth of the finish in this increasingly popular and low maintenance trend with high end concrete finishes.

sleepy eyed girl
SLEEPY EYED GIRL - 60' x 11' - This one is located at East 16th Avenue and Main Street in Vancouver. Airless sprayer and spray paint. Painted April 2007
I created this design last summer on a road trip to Yellowstone Park and I had been itching to paint it ever since. Sponsored by the City of Vancouver, the building owner and Hasty Market, this location had a constant graffiti problem so it was decided a mural would be the preventative measure taken. This once active target of graffiti has been untouched since it was created. A documentary based around this mural was filmed during the painting of it. Click here for the link to the documentary on youtube.
kong
KONG - 30' x 10' - Located at Cordova Street and Main Street, Van., BC. Spray paint. Painted January of 2004.
This piece is also shown in our graffiti page.

NORTH VAN WALL - 16' x 9' - Located at Esplanade and Lonsdale in the North Vancouver wall of fame. Spray paint on concrete wall. Painted April 2002.
A graffiti mural painted in celebration of my daughter Audrey! I had finished half of this piece as I got a call from my wife in labour. This was all during the filming of a graffiti documentary called "Bombed City". I came back and finished the piece two weeks later. This wall no longer stands.

andromeda Strain
ANDROMEDA STRAIN - War Mural - 20' wide x 12' high - Airbrushed latex on wooden flats. July 2007
This is a gulf war themed mural I did not design which was painted for a mini-series called The Andromeda Strain. It is truly an American pride type of piece which took me three days to paint. Due to time constraints, the border was kindly painted by Joy Hanser and Peter Wanzart, thank you. There were threats that this piece may end up residing at the Fort Lewis Air Force Base in Washington State as a gift, we'll see by the fall!

THE MUSE - 93 feet x 25 feet x 2- Located at 20238 Fraser Hwy.
in Langley, BC. Painted August 2007
A live/work studio condominium on the edge of downtown Langley
with murals on both sides and currently the my largest project to date.
Graphic design by Twin Fish Creative. It's been a while since I used a swingstage and I forgot how much work it was.

WATCHERS - This mural is 30' wide x 9' high and it is located in Portland, Oregon on Fremont Street at 31st. This piece was painted February 9th, 2008 while I was in town for an art opening.
